Georgia's Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili visited Finland

The Foreign Minister of Georgia Gela Bezuashvili and Erkki Tuomioja signed the agreement on the promotion and protection of investments. Georgia's Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili visited briefly Finland on Friday, 24 November. During his visit Bezhuasvili met with Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja. The topics of discussion included among others bilateral relations, EU agenda and current international issues, particularly the relations between Georgia and Russia.

Foreign Minister Bezhuashvili expressed his satisfaction with the progresses made in the field of the European Neighbourhood Policy in Southern Caucasus. EU adopted Action Plans with Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia on 14 November. Bezhuashvili especially stressed the efforts made by the Finnish EU presidency in finalising the negotiations.

The visit also included the signing of an agreement between Finland and Georgia on the promotion and protection of investments. Finland strives to promote the access of Finnish enterprises to Georgian markets and to ensure the operating conditions of Finnish enterprises in the country.
