Scholarships: the Foreign Correspondents' Programme in Finland - applications by 4 March, 2009

Newly graduated journalists or last year students of journalism from 19 countries are invited to apply for scholarships to participate in the Foreign Correspondents' Programme (FCP) in Finland from 1 to 31 August 2009.

Countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China (Shanghai area), Egypt, France, Germany, Great Britain, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Russia (Petrozavodsk and Carelia), Turkey, South-Africa, Ukraine and United States of America (Washington area).

The programme provides an excellent opportunity for participants to learn more about Finland, the Finnish society and the Finnish way of life. It also offers participants the means to expand and enhance their professional skills through individual projects related to Finland.

The FCP consists of briefings on different aspects of Finland, visits to business enterprises, cultural sites and institutions. The FCP is based in Helsinki, but field trips to e.g. Lapland and Turku are also included.

At the end of the FCP, each participant presents an individual project covering either a topic already dealt with in the programme or any other topic of interest related to Finland.
