Changes in autumn to two Ministry of Foreign Affairs grant application processes
As a part of the government grant development and digitalisation project, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is implementing new government grant online services. Two calls for applications will be held in autumn 2023: a grant for non-governmental organisations on providing Europe information, and a grant for organisations carrying out foreign and security policy activities. This change requires measures to be taken by the applicants. The calls for applications will take place upon funding being granted by the Parliament.
Assign authorizations in advance
In the future, these grants are applied for through the applyforgrants.fi online service(Link to another website.). This service compiles the government grant authorities’ applications in a one-stop-shop. It is possible to browse the available applications without signing in. When applying for a grant package, applicants are required to sign in through Suomi.fi e-Identification.
When acting on behalf of a company or community, an authorization must be granted through Suomi.fi. In certain cases, the mandate must be registered in the Digital and Population Data Service Agency’s mandate service(Link to another website.). Acquiring and confirming the required authorizations are the applicant’s responsibility. Make sure to do so in advance. Detailed information on suomi.fi authorizations is available on the State Treasury website(Link to another website.) and the Suomi.fi service(Link to another website.).
Grant activity development project
Online services are being developed in the Ministry of Finance’s government grant development and digitalisation project. The new online services for government grants include three services:
- Applyforgrants.fi(Link to another website.) for grant applicants and beneficiaries.
- Managegrants.fi(Link to another website.) for government grant officials.
- Exploregrants.fi(Link to another website.) for anyone that wants information on government grant amounts and beneficiaries.
The goal is that the new services will replace, fully or in part, the government grant officials’ current tools in the coming years. Currently, the level of digitalisation for the government grant officials varies, and their various online services all generate expenses. New services will also make it easier for applicants to see and apply for grants in a one-stop-shop.
