Unit for UN Development Issues
The Unit for UN Development Issues is responsible for:
-
coordinating the global implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Foreign Service and promoting policy coherence for sustainable development;
-
coordinating, preparing and guiding the UN General Assembly (UNGA) High-level Week’s SDG Moment, the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the High-level Political Forum (HLPF), the Second Committee of the General Assembly and other UN development meetings;
-
supporting and influencing the reform of the UN development system, cooperation and funding Finland’s key UN development programmes, funds and initiatives, especially UNFPA, UNWOMEN and UNICEF, including developing the operation of UNICEF’s Helsinki-based innovation hubs, while making use of Finnish expertise and solutions;

themes related to equality, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and education and for related advisory services, advocacy, development and training;
-
advancing the employment of Finnish nationals in international organisations within the competence of the Unit, and planning, implementing and developing expert programmes;
-
promoting UN procurement opportunities.
