Visa and residence permit - Finnish citizens

When you travel or move abroad, contact the public authorities in the country of destination in good time to find out about the entry requirements and travel documents required in that country. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland cannot give instructions on other countries' entry matters.

You can get information about visas, residence and work permits, and customs regulations from the public authorities in the country of destination. Do contact the mission of that country in Finland.  If the country is not represented in Finland, find the mission that handles Finnish citizens' entry matters in your country of destination.

For example, if you are travelling or moving to China, contact the Embassy of China in Helsinki.

If you live abroad and travel to a country in which Finnish citizens must hold a visa, apply to it at the mission of your country of destination nearest to where you are staying.

When you apply for a visa, also make sure that your passport is valid for a sufficiently long time after the trip.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) maintains a service on its website where you can check different countries' visa and passport regulations.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland does not take responsibility for the correctness and timeliness of the information.
