User statistics

Visitor statistics are gathered to improve the service. Such data include, for example, the website from which the visitor has moved to the service; the most frequently used search words; the time of visit; visited pages; visitor’s geographical location; type of browser; and general information related to visitor’s device. In order to anonymise visitor statistics, the last two syllables are removed from the visitor’s IP address. Tracking statistics does not involve storing cookies on the visitor’s device.

The data is not used for marketing purposes, and tracking data will not be disclosed outside the Government.

Visitor statistics are kept in servers located in Finland, and the data will not be combined with other sources of information. The data can be accessed by members of staff in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs whose tasks include web communications and by the Ministry's contracting partner Oikeat Oliot.
