Johanna Kaprio-Papageorgiou appointed as Press Counsellor at Finland’s Permanent Representation to the EU

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has appointed Johanna Kaprio-Papageorgiou as Press Counsellor at Finland’s Permanent Representation to the European Union in Brussels from 16 August 2023 to 31 July 2026.

Kaprio-Papageorgiou will move to Brussels from the post of Interim Head of Communications at CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation. Kaprio-Papageorgiou has extensive experience in EU and international communications. She has served as Chief Communications Specialist during Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU at the Prime Minister’s Office, as Press Officer (Coreper I) at Finland’s Permanent Representation to the EU and as Communications Officer at Europe Information at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. She has also held various positions at the European Commission Representation in Finland. In addition, she worked as Communications Coordinator for the 2020 Afghanistan Assistance Conference organised by the Foreign Ministry.

Kaprio-Papageorgiou holds the degree of Master of Science (MSc) in European Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science and the degree of Master of Social Sciences from the University of Lund in Sweden.

As Press Counsellor, she will be responsible for the media relations of Finland’s Permanent Representation to the EU. Her main task will be to inform the public of the activities of the Council of the European Union and of Finland’s positions.
