Exchange of market access offers between EU and China in the context of ongoing Investment Agreement negotiations; questionnaire for priorities concerning investments

The EU and China exchanged market access offers in the summit held in July. So far the parties have acquainted themselves with the offers and are now moving on to improving them. The negotiations have been going on since 2013.

The negotiations include topics under the EU's common trade policy such as foreign direct investments and rules on sustainable development (environment and labour rights). The aim of the Agreement is to reduce barriers to investment. The negotiations include investment protection and investment dispute settlement. When in force the Agreement would replace the bilaterial investment protection agreement between Finland and China from 2006.

In order to further the interests of Finnish actors in a best possible way, please inform us on your negotiating priorities, especially:

  • Information on your sectoral priorities and/or possible sensitivities regarding negotiations on investments
  • Information on challenges and trade barriers your company has encountered in China in relation to investments.

Please send your views by 3rd December to tuo-10@formin.fi. All responses will be treated confidentially.
