The aim of environmental policy is to illustrate how development policy is operationalised within the environmental sector.

The policy also brings together and provides a general outlook of the sectoral policies (e.g., forest, energy, water) that are directly concerned with the environment, creating development policy coherence in the process since the policies and actions in the different policy areas support the objectives of development policy in eradicating poverty and sustainable development.
