United States to facilitate export of dual-use items to allied countries

Relaxing the export licence requirements will also benefit Finland.

The United States Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), which is responsible for regulating the export of dual-use items, has announced(Link to another website.) that it will facilitate the export of certain dual-use items from the United States.

BIS has released three rules, two of which relate to certain Australia Group (AG)-controlled items and to Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) items. As a member of both regulatory systems, Finland benefits from the relaxed export licence requirements.

The relaxation of requirements entered into force on 7 December 2023.

The third rule concerns the Strategic Trade Authorization (STA), which is open for comments(Link to another website.) until 6 February 2024.
