Foreign Minister Valtonen to attend NATO Foreign Ministers’ meeting

Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will attend the meeting of NATO Foreign Affairs Ministers in Brussels on 3–4 April.

The Foreign Ministers’ meeting is an important step in the preparations for NATO’s Washington Summit in July. The meeting will focus on the support for Ukraine and on NATO’s cooperation with the European Union and Indo-Pacific partner countries Australia, South Korea, Japan and New Zealand. A meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council and a joint meeting with the EU and Indo-Pacific partners will be held in connection with the Foreign Ministers’ session.

NATO will celebrate its 75th anniversary on 4 April. “Finland emphasises the need to strongly continue supporting Ukraine both bilaterally and in NATO. NATO has a clearly necessary role in delivering and enhancing support for Ukraine. Ukraine is making significant reforms on its path towards NATO and EU membership in exceptionally difficult circumstances. Ukraine's future is in NATO and the European Union,” says Minister for Foreign Affairs Valtonen.
