Stubb mediates South Ossetia crisis in Russia

Moscow, 12 August (STT-AFP)  Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Chairman-in-Office and Finnish Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb and French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, representing the EU, are today in Russia to negotiate about a solution to the South Ossetia crisis.

Stubb and Kouchner will meet Russian President Dmitri Medvedev and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow. The Ministers will present to the Russian leaders a ceasefire proposal drafted under the supervision of the EU and the OSCE.

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili signed the proposed ceasefire plan yesterday.
