Stakeholder event on legislative reform and an export control clinic

On Friday 6 October 2023, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs will organise an event where all stakeholders are welcome to come and discuss the project to reform the Act on the Export Control of Dual-Use Items. An export control clinic designed for those who export dual-use items will be organised on the same occasion.

Last autumn, the Foreign Ministry launched the project to reform the Act on the Export Control of Dual-Use Items and organised the first stakeholder event. The project has reached a point where a draft government proposal should be ready for a round of consultation this autumn. First, however, the project will be presented and discussed at the stakeholder event on 6 October. Stakeholders may submit written comments on the project after the event.

The export control clinic will discuss the Commission’s forthcoming guidelines on the export control of cyber-surveillance item, the template forms used by the Ministry’s Export Control Unit when considering export authorisations, and different ways to consider sanctions and human rights.
