EU Foreign Affairs Council to discuss Russian aggression against Ukraine and situation in Israel and the region
EU foreign ministers will convene in Brussels on 22 January. Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will represent Finland at the meeting.
The ministers will discuss Russian aggression against Ukraine, focusing on the EU’s support to Ukraine and accountability issues. The Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba will also attend the meeting.
“It is very important for the EU to continue its strong and united response to Russian aggression in Ukraine. Finland’s strong and long-term support to Ukraine will continue. Russia must be held accountable for the crimes it has committed in Ukraine in breach of international law,” says Minister for Foreign Affairs Valtonen.
EU Foreign Ministers will exchange views on the situation in Israel and the region with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and the foreign ministers of the countries in the region.
“Having a dialogue with the region’s countries is essential because they play an important role in preventing regional escalation and resolving the situation in Gaza,” says Minister for Foreign Affairs Valtonen.
