Summary of main views of Finland for the Post-2015 Agenda (pdf, 233 KB)

The UN Millennium Development Goals are due in the end of 2015. Most probably all the targets will not be achieved. At the Rio+20 Conference on 2012, it was agreed that there is a need for new Sustainable Development Goals as well as for a proposal for Sustainable Development Financing. The UN is in the process of defining a new agenda to guide international community’s actions in the post-2015 era.

This paper is a summary of the main views of Finland for the Post-2015 Agenda. This paper does not take a stand on what the concrete new Sustainable Development Goals should be. Its purpose is to lay out views considered important to Finland.

The original paper in Finnish can be found on the website of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.

The views of Finland for the Post-2015 Agenda have been prepared under the lead of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. They are based on the Development Policy Programme of Finland, the Finnish Society's Commitment to Sustainable Development, the Rio+20 positions, UN and human rights strategies and on discussions between different ministries, interest groups and the civil society.

These views will be clarified as the discussion on the Post-2015 Agenda proceeds.
