Department for International Trade

The Department for International Trade is responsible for the preparation and implementation of Finland’s trade policy, external economic relations and international technology policy both within the European Union as well as multilaterally and bilaterally.

Rules-based international trade opens up markets for Finnish businesses, while creating a foundation for Finland’s sustainable economic growth, competitiveness and security. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs promotes exports and internationalisation of Finnish companies by offering them related services as part of the Team Finland network.

The Department for International Trade is responsible for:

1) Finland’s external economic relations and trade policy, including trade agreements, market access, import policy and investments;

2) international economic cooperation and trade policy in the EU, the WTO, the OECD and other economic organisations;

3) export promotion and internationalisation as well as other services for businesses;

4) export control of dual-use items;

5) international technology policy
