New Directors General and Deputy Directors General
The following Directors General and Deputy Directors General were appointed by decision of the Government on 15 March:
Jalava joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1976 and has held positions in the Administrative Department, the Department for External Economic Relations, the Division for Africa and the Middle East, and the Finnish Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden. From 1999 to 2004, she served in the Administrative Department as Director of the Terms of Employment Unit and, after that, as Deputy Director General for Personnel. As from the beginning of 2006, Jalava has served as Deputy Director General of the Administrative Department.
Vuorinen has served as Deputy Director General of the Department for Global Affairs since 2005. She joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1985 and has held positions in the Political Department and the Department for International Development Cooperation. During her career, Vuorinen has served, among other things, as Director of the Unit for Humanitarian Assistance and Director of the Unit for Economic and Social Development. In the Finnish diplomatic service, she has held postings in the Finnish Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva, Switzerland, and the Finnish Embassy in Seoul, South Korea. Prior to her career in the Ministry, Vuorinen worked in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health as Secretary of International Affairs and in various public relations functions.
Tikka joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1985. She has held postings in the Press and Culture Office and served as Press Official in the Finnish Embassies in Bonn and London. Since 2001, Tikka has served as Director of the Information Unit of the Department for Communication and Culture.
Prior to her career in the service of the Ministry, in the years from 1990 to 1994, Tikka worked as Party Secretary of the Centre Party and, before that, in various international non-governmental organisations and as journalist.
