Foreign Minister Valtonen to chair OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in Paris on 4 June 2026
Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will attend the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in Paris on 4 June 2026 and serve as chair of several sessions. Minister Valtonen will meet with United States Trade Representative Jamieson Greer during the meeting.
On Thursday 4 June, the ministers will discuss renewing industrial policies to broadly benefit societies and economies without unduly distorting global competition.
“Rules-based trade and open markets are the foundations for strategic competitiveness. Industrial policy can support economic renewal when implemented in a way that does not distort markets or competition. The OECD plays a key role in promoting knowledge-based decision-making,” says Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Valtonen will hold a press conference together with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann. The press conference can be watched live here.
Finland is chairing the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting on 3–4 June 2026. The Finnish delegation is led by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo. On the first day of the meeting, Finland was represented by Minister of Finance Riikka Purra, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio and Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto.
