Teija Tiilikainen to be Political State Secretary to Foreign Minister Kanerva

Tiilikainen Teija On Thursday 10 May 2007, the Government decided to appoint Ms Teija Tiilikainen, Doctor of Political Science, to serve as State Secretary. The appointment will be valid as from 28 May until further notice, however, no longer than Minister Kanerva's term in office.

Since 2003 until now, Tiilikainen has served as Director of the Network for European Studies at the University of Helsinki. During her academic career, she has held various positions, such as researcher, professor of international politics, and project director in the Åbo Academi University, the University of Turku and the University of Helsinki. She has also been employed as a lecturer and columnist. In the years 2002 and 2003, she served as Special Representative of the Prime Minister in the Convention on the Future of Europe. Tiilikainen has also held several expert positions and positions of trust. In 2006, she was elected as a board member and vice chair of the new Finnish Institute of International Affairs.
