Klaus Korhonen appointed Deputy Director General

The Government has today appointed Klaus Korhonen Deputy Director General in the Department for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs as from 1 January, 2006. Korhonen joined the Ministry in 1987. He was posted to Moscow in 1989-1991 and to Finland´s Permanent Mission in Geneva in 1991-1996. He was Director of the Unit for Policy Planning and Research in 2001-2004. Since January this year he has held tenure as a visiting lecturer and researcher at the University of Helsinki.
