Kirsti Eskelinen new Director General for Department for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia

Kirsti Eskelinen-Liukkonen The Government has today appointed Finland´s Ambassador to Latvia, Mrs Kirsti Eskelinen new Director General for the Department for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the MFA as from 1 September. Eskelinen entered the Foreign Ministry in 1973 and she has served in Finland´s Permanent representations to the UN in Geneva and New York and the Finnish Embassy in London.
At the Ministry she has served at the Political Department, the Department for Trade and External Economic Relations and the Department for Development Cooperation, among others as its Deputy Director General. In the end of 1980s she was head of the International Department of the Finnish Red Cross. She has been Finland´s Ambassador to Latvia since 2000.
