Antti Kuosmanen New Director General of Department for External Trade

The President of the Republic has appointed Antti Kuosmanen, presently director in the EU Council Directorate for External Economic Relations, new director general of the department for external trade of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Antti Kuosmanen entered the Foreign Ministry in 1976 and he has served in Geneva and in Brussels as deputy head of Finland´s permanent representation to the EC, and in the ministry as head of integration office of the department for external trade and deputy head of EU Secretariat during Finland´s accession negoatiations to the EU. He became director in the EU Council external economic relations directorate in 1996 bearing responsibility for the Mediterranean, Asia and Latin America, and since 1998 for EU enlargement and Europe agreements.
In 2001 Antti Kuosmanen published the book “Finland´s Journey to the European Union”.
