Team Finland visit to Singapore

The Team Finland network is organising a business delegation visit to Singapore on 28-30 October 2026 in connection with Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH) and Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW). The visit is themed “Decarbonizing cities: digital transformation and energy transition for a sustainable built environment” and led by the Minister of Economic Affairs, Mr Sakari Puisto.

Preliminary programme

Singapore’s Green Plan 2030 is a whole-of nation movement to drive sustainable development within the country. The plan rests on five key pillars: City in Nature, Sustainable Living, Energy Reset, Green Economy, and Resilient Future.

Improving construction productivity is a national strategic goal. The government supports companies' technology projects, skills development and the introduction of new operating methods with significant subsidies. The goal is to build faster, better and with a lower carbon footprint.

On energy, Singapore has a ‘Four Switches Strategy’ to transition to a low-carbon future:

1. Shining Bright with Solar: Expanding solar deployment to target at least 2 gigawatt-peak (GWp) by 2030, supported by large Energy Storage Systems (ESS) like the facility on Jurong Island.
2. Regional Interconnectivity: Scaling up low-carbon electricity imports from neighbouring countries to roughly 6 gigawatts (GW) by 2035.
3. Low-Carbon Solutions: Investing in emerging alternatives like hydrogen, geothermal energy, and carbon capture (CCUS).
4. Natural Gas: Using high-efficiency natural gas-fired combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plants as a transitional fuel source.

What to expect?

Team Finland will organise a tailored delegation programme around SWITCH and SIEW with the aim of maximising commercial and strategic value for participating companies.

Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH) stands as Asia’s premier innovation festival, bringing together market leaders, entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs, creators, accelerators and investors from the global innovation ecosystem. The flagship event features the highly anticipated SLINGSHOT startup pitching finals, where tomorrow's unicorns take centre stage, alongside thought-provoking leadership keynotes, strategic market access sessions, and targeted roundtable discussions with industry pioneers.

The Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) is an annual platform for energy professionals, policymakers and commentators to share best practices and solutions within the global energy space. Delegation participants can join key events, such as SIEW Energy Insights, SIEW TechTable and SIEW Thinktank Roundtables.

Note on dual-use items: Companies that export dual-use items must be familiar with the export control legislation and adhere to it. Participation in a business delegation does not affect the outcome of a potential export authorization application. • The Minister’s participation will cover part of the programme. The exact schedule will be confirmed at a later stage.

 Practicalities  

To cover the costs of arranging the visit to Singapore, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs will charge a participation fee of 1350 EUR per person plus a 20 EUR management fee.

The participation fee will be invoiced after the visit, based on the actual costs. The invoiced fee will not exceed the amount mentioned above. Kindly note that the participation fee does not include flights or accommodation of the participant nor meals outside the business delegation programme.
