Minister Tavio to visit Indonesia and Vietnam
Finnish Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will visit Indonesia on 12–14 October and Vietnam on 15–16 October. During his visits, Minister Tavio will meet ministers and business representatives from the two countries. Several Finnish companies will take part in the visit programme.
In Jakarta, Minister Ville Tavio will meet Minister of Trade Budi Santoso and open the Trade and Investment Forum. The discussions will focus on bilateral trade, the EU–Indonesia CEPA trade agreement, which will enter into force at the beginning of next year, and Indonesia’s OECD membership process. The Minister will be accompanied by a business delegation of representatives from the energy, digitalisation and health sectors. Delegates will have the opportunity to network and present their projects to interested local stakeholders.
“Indonesia, a G20 economy, is a large-scale market and one of our most important Asian trading partners. The forthcoming free trade agreement is expected to boost exports and promote a favourable business environment,” Minister Tavio says.
In Hanoi, Minister Tavio will meet representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment. The meeting will focus on digital infrastructure, data centres, sustainable energy, the circular economy and smart cities. Minister Tavio will also meet Finnish companies operating in Vietnam and leading Vietnamese companies. Vietnam is Finland’s most important trading partner in Southeast Asia, and the visit will help to transform the strategic partnership between the countries into concrete economic cooperation.
“Finland and Vietnam are entering a new phase of cooperation, with innovation, digitalisation and sustainable infrastructure driving growth. Our goal is to build practical partnerships that will deliver tangible benefits to both countries,” Minister Tavio says.
