National Security Authority

The National Security Authority operates under the administration of the Secretary of State. The NSA is responsible for:

  • supervising and monitoring that international classified information shall be protected and handled accordingly
  • in the entire central government
  • in companies and agencies which handle data that is classified international
  • coordinating the activities of the Designated Security Authorities (DSAs) and the National Communications Security Authority (NCSA)
  • representing Finland in international conferences on information security
  • negotiating bilateral and multilateral information security agreements
  • issuing Personnel Security Clearance Certificates (PSC Certificate) for international cooperation
