Accreditation for international media: Presidential elections in Finland 2024

The second round of Finland's presidential election will be held on Sunday 11 February. Accreditation for international media is open from Monday 29 January to Wednesday 31 January 2024.

Accreditation for international media

Accreditation is necessary for all foreign media representatives wishing to cover the Finnish presidential elections 2024 and to take part in media events. 

Journalists applying for accreditation must fulfill the following criteria:

  • They must be employed by a media organisation OR
  • They must be a freelance journalist who has an assignment from a media organisation

AND

  • have a valid press card OR
  • have a letter signed by editor-in-chief.

Please apply for accreditation no later than 23.59 pm (Eastern European Time) Wednesday 31 January 2024. It is not possible to apply for accreditation at a later time. 

Sunday 11 February: Election Night

The accredited media has access to the official election night. Media facilities are located in the city center of Helsinki. Media representatives have an opportunity to interview the candidates. The press room will offer simultaneous interpretation into English of the televised election night programme broadcast by Yle (Finnish Broadcasting Company).

Monday 12 February: Analysis of the election result

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs will organise an analysis and discussion event on the election results. The event is led by journalist Marko Junkkari from the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat. The event will be held at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
