Foreign Ministry mobile service awarded MindTrek trophy


The Foreign Ministry mobile travel service won a MindTrek award in the Cosmobilus category for mobile contents in Tampere this week. The MindTrek awards were presented in Tampere for the sixth time. MindTrek is the leading new media competition in Finland.

The jury, chaired by Pauli Aalto-Setälä, said the Foreign Ministry mobile service “is of genuine assistance for travellers abroad. The SMS service has been constructed cleverly and logically containing information pertinent for travel security and for establishing contact with Finnish missions abroad”. The Foreign Ministry shared the mobile award with a map directory called Sinulle.com.

The MindTrek awards as part of the MindTrek media week are sponsored by the City of Tampere, Veikkaus, Media Tampere, Nokia Mobile Phones, the Finnish Broadcasting Company TV2, the European Social Fund and Tampere City Transport.

There were 91 entries competing for the awards. The main award was presented to the website of the Maunula congregation which was also voted the best product by the audience. The Foreign Ministry mobile service was voted second. The technical solutions of the Foreign Ministry mobile service were designed by Nitro FX.

The first prize of the Pikku Kakkonen category was awarded to an educational game called Space Bobo and the secret of friendship. It was produced by the Finnish Red Cross and funded by the Department of International Development Cooperation of the Finnish Foreign Ministry.
