Voluntary contribution to the OECD Development Assistance Committee´s (DAC) Programme of Work and Budget 2021-22

Description

Voluntary contribution of 500 000 euros to the OECD Development Assistance Committee’s (DAC) Programme of Work and Budget (PWB) for the biennium 2021-22. The contribution will be paid in two installments: 1. installment of 250 000 EUR will be paid in 2021 and the 2. instalment in 2022. Finland’s contribution to the PWB is un-earmarked. The OECD/DAC has a central role in the international development policy as a forum of many of the largest providers of aid. Its core activities include monitoring Official Development Assistance (ODA), setting development co-operation standards, providing guidance on policy approaches, and conducting regular peer reviews of its members. Finland is an active participant in the DAC committee and its subsidiary bodies. Finland benefits from the DAC’s research and analysis work, and it provides an important forum for Finland to participate in the international development policy. DAC also helps Finland to make its development policy and programmes more effective through peer reviews that provide in-depth examinations of development systems and policies, including lessons learned. The overarching objective of the DAC for the period 2018-2022 is to promote development co-operation and other relevant policies so as to contribute to implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The 2021-22 Programme of Work and Budget contributes to the overarching objective. The PWB includes five output areas: 1. Mobilising and aligning finance for the 2030 Agenda; 2. Making development co-operation more effective, impactful and inclusive including through partnerships and innovation; 3. Preventing and addressing fragility and crises; 4. Tackling poverty and inequalities, achieving gender equality, and enabling inclusive governance in order to leave no one behind; and 5. Promoting climate objectives and sustainable management and use of natural capital The budget envelope of the PWB is 39.1 million EUR. The PWB contributes indirectly to all Finland's development policy and cooperation's priories (except education).
