FCA: Mideeye, Support of the National Reconciliation and Local Governance in Somalia

Inclusive decision-making processes and trust towards the government institutions are necessery when building a stable and peaceful Somalia. Finn Church Aid (FCA) in partnership with the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers is implementing a Mideeye project. The project works for a more stable and peaceful Somalia, recognizing that genuine national reconciliation and inclusive governance are two reinforcing and interrelated processes, crucial for peace and state building. FCA and the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers have been active in mediation and local-level democratization and institution building in Somalia for several years. Since 2017, FCA has supported the ministry responsible for the implementation of the National Reconciliation Framework (NRF) at the request of the Somali government. Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland has supported the FCA’s reconciliation project with 1,3 million Euros during the years 2018-2021. External evaluation from the year 2020 states, that the project has been highly successful in achieving the central objective to establish a NRF and to advance reconciliation. Funding for Mideeye project is part of MFA's Country Programme for Somalia. Mideeye project is in line with Country Programme's objectives concerning state building and peace building. The support for the Mideeye project is 4,5 million euros for the years 2021-2024.
