Private Forestry and Forest Enterprise Support in Kenya
Description
"Private Forestry and Forest Enterprise support in Kenya" programme aims to support the private sector in forestry and to strengthen good governance, enabling efficient and competitive entrepreneurship and increased volumes in forestry production. The impact objective is to create new jobs and livelihoods in the forestry sector and to build the capacity of devolved forest governance. The programme, implemented from 2018 to 2022 together with Kenya Forest Service (KFS), will benefit forest sector SMEs whose increased, more efficient activity will create jobs, improve livelihoods, and create added value in forest production chains. Both central and devolved forest governance will benefit from capacity building, and their ability to support a growing private sector by creating an enabling business environment will increase. Similarly, the capacity of SMEs to meet rising private sector standards in work safety, environment, efficiency etc. will be strengthened. The new cooperation will enhance opportunities for trade relations between Kenya and Finland. The goal is to find synergies and cooperation with other donors for increased effectiveness and to support technology transfer between Finland and Kenya.
