Finland participates with its development policy and cooperation to global efforts to eradicate poverty and ensure sustainable development. Joint action is impactful: extreme poverty has decreased. There is still much to be done.

The government report on impact and coherence of Finland's development policy describes how its actions based on the 2012 development policy programme is impactful as well as provides several examples of results. Aditionally, the report elaborates on how its decisions in other policy sectors support the opportunities of developing countries to improve the rights and wellbeing of their citizens.

A right of each person to a good life is at the core of Finland's development policy. This entails the right to earn a livelihood, decent work, adequate housing, food, opportunities for education and health services or access to clean water.
