Preparation of Government’s Human Rights Report under way: participate in online consultation

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs will hold an online consultation on the preparation of the Government new Human Rights Report on Thursday 10 September at 10.00–12.30. This online consultation will discuss matters raised on the draft document during the consultation process.

The opening of the event by Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto will be followed by a greeting by Minister of Justice Anna-Maja Henriksson. The aim of this online consultation is to discuss with organisations, researchers, authorities, parliamentary groups, advisory boards and citizens and to hear their views. The Government aims to submit the Human Rights Report to Parliament no later than in spring 2021. 

Registration to the online consultation is open to all. Please register for the event to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs via the Lyyti system(Link to another website.) by Tuesday 8 September 2020. Instructions for participation will be sent after the registration period has ended.

The Human Rights Report outlines the Government’s activities in fundamental and human rights questions at the national, EU- and international levels. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is responsible for the overall planning of the report, but the Ministry of Justice and other ministries are participating in the process. The preparation is monitored by the Government Network of Contact Persons for Fundamental and Human Rights. The report will be submitted to Parliament in accordance with the Government Programme. The previous Government of Finland's Human Rights Report from 2014.
