The Finnish Centre of Expertise in Education and Development (FinCEED)
Description
The Finnish Centre of Expertise in Education and Development (FinCEED) at the Finnish National Agency for Education pools Finnish capacity and expertise in education and development; facilitates the deployment of education sector expertise for the use of developing countries and multilateral actors; and supports partner countries in offering equitable and inclusive quality education. FinCEED aims at strengthening Finland’s role in responding to the global learning crisis through facilitating the use of Finnish expertise in development cooperation in the education sector. FinCEED has four main functions: 1) Facilitating the deployment of education experts in bilateral and multilateral development cooperation; 2) Coordinating and implementing development cooperation projects in the education sector; 3) Enhancing capacity and expertise in education and development; and 4) Strengthening education sector development policy, multi-stakeholder cooperation, communication and advocacy. Through one of its main functions, FinCEED has seconded national experts to the EU commission (INTPA G3) and EU delegations in Ethiopia and Nigeria. These senior adviser positions focus on strengthening the effectiveness and impact of education sector development cooperation through strategic planning, donor cooperation and policy dialogue. This funding focuses on continuing these national expert positions in the EU until autumn 2024. FinCEED operates under the Finnish National Agency for Education and its strategic guidance and development is implemented by a steering group that includes representatives from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Finnish National Agency for Education.
