Support to Justice Rapid Response for the fight against impunity

Justice Rapid Response strengthens the effectiveness of accountability mechanisms worldwide by providing rapidly available experts to ensure the quality and the timeliness of investigations of mass atrocities. One of the focus areas of JRR is conflict-related SGBV. JRR has deployed experts on over 200 missions worldwide. The JRR roster consists of 700 experts with a wide range of expertise, over half of them female, and over 40 % from the Global South. JRR’s work in the first ten years has been impressive. Since 2009, every Commission of Inquiry and Fact-Finding Mission mandated by the UN Human Rights Council has included a JRR - UN Women SGBV investigator. Since its foundation, Finland has financed JRR and been a member of its Executive Board. In year 2019 Finland’s financial contribution is 300 000 euros and will be directed into International Investigations Deployment Fund.
