Support to UNFPA for humanitarian activities in Syria

Description

EUR 1.5 million of this year's humanitarian aid allocation is proposed to be allocated to UNFPA for Syria and cross-border programs. Syria's humanitarian situation continues to be difficult. The need for humanitarian aid is 11.9 million people, of which 5 million are in need of acute assistance. The humanitarian appeal of 2019 is about $ 3.5 billion.In total, the financing needs of the Syrian crisis for 2019 are estimated at USD 9.1 billion, including the regional humanitarian appeal. Financing of Finland's humanitarian aid in Syria in 2019 is planned to amount to EUR 10.4 million for UNHCR, WFP, UNFPA, International Red Cross Movement, Finnish Church Relief and FIDA. Total support by Finland to Syria is EUR 25 million in 2019. UNFPA supports sexual and reproductive health services in Syria prevents gender-based violence and provides services in women's and girls' safety centers as well as youth centers and health services.
