Organisational Support for UN Women Finland

Finland National Committee for UN Women is a non-governmental organisation with consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The national committee supports the mission of UN Women, the United Nations agency for gender equality and women’s rights, and is one of the few associations in Finland specialised in women's and girl's rights. Reducing the inequality between women and men is one the goals of Agenda 2030 as well as one of the main focus areas of the Finnish development policy. The National Committee coordinates the Women, Peace and Security 1325 Network consisting of non-governmental organizations and independent researches as well as experts that work for the promotion of human rights and equality. Finland National Committee for UN Women applies the organisational support for the general activities as well development communication. In 2019 the main topic will be innovations and technology for gender equality and in 2020 gender equality in media (Declaration and action-plan of Beijing 25 years). In 2018 the development communication and global education of Un Women Finland concentrated thematically on climate change and how it links to gender equality. The event on Climate change, gender equality and conflicts with Fadumo Dayib as a key speaker generated wide interest. 1325-network for example supported the first action plan of Finlands Young, peace and security 2250-network and participated in the updating of a strategic 1325 framework of EU. The general terms for govenment grants and specific additional termas for organisational support apply for the organisational support. UN Women receives organisational support for 2019 and 2020 € 155 000 per year, total 310 000 euros.
