Organisational support for UN Association of Finland

The UN Association of Finland (UNA Finland) is a Non-Governmental Organization that promotes and supports the actions and principles of the United Nations. It was founded in 1954. The Association provides education and educational material regarding global responsibility and advocacy work, delivers and produces news items relating to the UN, and influences Finnish UN policy. The UN Association’s work contributes to the achievement of Finnish development cooperation objectives and adheres to the principles of the Finnish Development Policy programme. UNA Finland organises global education to increase awareness of the UN activities, human rights and active citizenship. The Association aims for lasting results and permanent change in attitudes and practices with its global education programme. The main target audience is teachers, pedagogy students, and voluntary educators from member associations. Year 2019 UNA Finland celebrates its 65th anniversary, International Labour Organisation (ILO) its 100th anniversary and it is also the year of indigenous languages. UNA Finland will assess the effects of ratification or non-ratification of ILO Convention 169 on indigenous peoples in Finland. In 2020 UNA Finland will for example organise a simulation on Model United Nations (UN) in the parliament to celebrate 75 years of UN. In 2018 UNA Finland increased the know-how of the Agenda 2030 especially in the work of government, political parties, municipalities and organisations. For example a mentoring programme was started as a part of UN friends' network. Also the communication materials and canals of social media have been more and more used and visited during the last years. The general terms for government grants and specific additional terms for organisational support apply for the organisational support. UN Association of Finland receives organisational support for 2019 and 2020 €83 080/year, total €166 160 for development communication and global education.
