Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC); UNHCR/ Humanitarian aid

1.5 million euros is suggested to UNHCR operation in the Democratic Republic of Kongo (DRC). The humanitarian situation in DRC worsened in 2018 as a result of new violent clashes and an ebola outbreak that has been the second worst in modern history. There are 4.5 million internally displaced persons in DRC and 800,000 refugees have fled to neighboring countries. The UNHCR delivers emergency kits to those forcibly displaced and advocates for increased inclusion of IDPs and refugees in the national system. Continuous underfunding of the DRC operation makes it difficult for the UNHCR to focus on long-term projetcs instead of life-saving assistance.
