Description
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan UNAMA, Salam Support Group (SSG) supports the peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan. The SSG II programme 2019 - 2020 has five main focus areas: 1) Support to high-level mediators, entities, and individuals involved in peace talks; 2) Track II (unofficial and CSO actors) and Regional Initiatives; 3) Local Peace Initiatives, peace outreach and advocacy, and support to inclusive peace processes; 4) Women, Peace, & Security activities through Salaam Support Group; and 5) Support to humanitarian access. Project contributes primarily to focus area Democratic and better-functioning societies in development policy of Finland. It enhances peaceful solutions and national dialogue. Gender equality is mainstreamed under every result area. Because peace process moves and develops very fast, the different areas of the project are designed flexible taking into consideration the current situation. Although activities are supporting one another, at the same time those are also independet. If at the national level peace process would stop, can local peace initiatives be still supported. The share of Finland of the total budget is 200 000 e.
