Strengthening the Rule of Law and Human Rights Protection in Uzbekistan

UNDP Uzbekistan´s "Strengthening the Rule of Law and Human Rights Protection in Uzbekistan" supports the strengthening of legal and institutional framework that improve the provision of free legal aid. The project also enhances the capacity of Ombudsperson´s Office. Objective of the project is to guarantee access to justice for vulnerable and marginalized persons, such as rural women and people with disabilities. The project aims at supporting the development of free legal aid system and improving the legal awareness of government officials and the population of Uzbekistan. Main beneficiaries include vulnerable groups such as women and persons with disabilities living in rural areas. They are often unaware of their legal rights and lack access to justice. Civil society will be trained and informed on issues and obligations related to the rights of the citizens. Finnish funding is 1,5 million euros for 2022-2025.
