Humanitarian Assistance; UNHCR; support to UNHCR's activities in Moldova

Description

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs supports UNHCR’s operation in Moldova with 1 million euros. As a result, of the Ukraine war, more than four million people have fled Ukraine. Nearly 390,000 Ukrainian nationals have arrived in Moldova. Due to the continuously increasing number of people, Moldova’s internal resilience is becoming highly critical. Moldova is institutionally weak and its capacity to provide services and assistance to those who have fled Ukraine is insufficient. The resilience of the poorest country in Europe is being put to the test, and Moldova has appealed to the international Community to obtain financial and other support. UNHCR, in cooperation with 12 other UN and humanitarian actors, is coordinating and implementing a Regional Humanitarian Response Plan to support the countries in the region (incl. Moldova) in their efforts to support displaced Ukrainians.
