UNICEF - Non violence in school and child protection
Description
Violence against children is a cause of concern in the occupied Palestinian territory. Palestinian children face violence as a consequence of the occupation and conflict, as well as within family, community and school. The humanitarian situation in the occupied Palestinian territory is weak and violence has become part of everyday life. Finland continues its support to the UNICEF project to support a school- and growth environment for Palestinian children free of violence. The project builds on a first phase implemented in 2017-2018, that worked on reducing violence against children in schools and communities and on the other hand to strengthen humanitarian coordination related to child protection and education. This second phase of the project will focus on the first mentioned, on reducing violence against children in schools and communities. The project funding is 1.6 million euros for 2019-2022. The project aims to strengthen the rights of both girls and boys, it supports peace and human rights in a conflict area. Geographically the project focuses on the most vulnerable areas of the occupied Palestinian territory.
