Description

The non-governmental (NGO) project against gender-based violence implemented by the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) promotes the reduction of gender-based violence and harmful practices in the regions of Bungoma, Kilifi and Samburu in Kenya. The project has four outcome-level objectives: 1) increase demand and access to high-quality and comprehensive prevention and response services related to gender-based violence, 2) increase the capacity of duty bearers to provide information and services related to gender-based violence, 3) strengthen the legal basis, policy framework and sustainability mechanisms for prevention and response services related to gender-based violence, and 4) strengthen coordination for effective prevention of gender-based violence and the programming and planning of response services. The KRCS NGO project complements Finland’s bilateral project on strengthening prevention and response to gender based violence in Kenya: the bilateral project focuses on strengthening the capacity of duty bearers, while the NGO project raises awareness among right holders and supports them in seeking services. The projects are implemented in the same counties (Bundesgoma, Kilifi, Samburu).
