International Crisis Group (ICG)
Description
The International Crisis Group (ICG) is one of the most respected independent organisations in the field of conflict prevention and management. ICG is a think tank with also more operational roles. ICG work is a combination of in-depth field knowledge and analysis based on expert field work, practical policy recommendations, high-level advocacy work, and communication. The purpose is to prevent, control and influence violent conflicts. ICG produces, inter alia, analyses and reports on current conflict and crisis situations, and organises roundtable meetings and seminars. The information produced by ICG is readily available and the reports are widely appreciated and cited. In addition to country and regional focuses, ICG is increasingly integrating thematic analysis and perspectives into its work, such as gender equality, climate, technology and economics. ICG places particular emphasis on gender mainstreaming and gender sensitivity. Support for ICG's work complements Finland's mediation efforts and enhances Finland's development policy goals, especially work to strengthen democratic and better-functioning societies. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has supported and cooperated with ICG from the beginning. In 2021-2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will finance the ICG with EUR 1 200 000 (300 000/year). General support for the organisation offers flexible opportunities for cooperation and partnership development.
