Support to UNFPA for humanitarian activities in Syria
Description
Syria's humanitarian situation continues to be difficult. 11 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. In addition, 5.6 million people are refugees in neighbouring countries. Finland's humanitarian aid to Syria in 2019 amounted to 12.4 million euros. This was allocated through UNHCR, WFP, UNFPA, International Red Cross Movement, Finn Church Aid and FIDA. In Syria, UNFPA supports sexual and reproductive health services, works on preventing gender-based violence and provides services in women's and girls' safety centres as well as in youth centres and health services.
