Humanitarian Assistance; UNHCR South Sudan
Description
Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland supports UNHCR’s activities in South Sudan and in the region with 2 million euros. Despite the peace agreement signed in 2018, humanitarian situation remains fragile while the conflict continues. Wide spread floods and Covid-19 pandemic have increased humanitarian needs. More than 2.2 million refugees have left South Sudan to Sudan, Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia and more than 1.7 million are internally displaced. UNHCR provides protection to the refugees and coordinates refugee camps and provides non-food items. UNHCR’s South Sudan Situation appeal for 2021 is 711 million dollars.
