The implementation of the goals of Finland´s development policy relies on the essential support of Finnish citizens and the relevant interest groups. The Unit for Development Communications supports the Ministry´s departments and units in charge of development policy and development cooperation in communicating about their work. The common goal is to make both the policies and their relevance as well as the results of Finland´s development cooperation known among the stakeholders and the Finnish public. The guidelines for all the Ministry communications are openness, clarity and reliability. Timely communications, active cooperation with the media and strategic work with the stakeholders are all needed. Long-term global education is equally important as it paves the way for global citizenship. The main communication channel for Finland´s official development aid and policy is the website um.fi. The service is further developed to improve its timeliness and accessibility. The contents of the website are actively promoted in social media. Publications are digital by default – printed ones are produced only selectively. The allowance of 90 000 euros is reserved for both digital and print publications.
