Humanitarian Assistance/UNHCR/Ethiopia Emergency Situation (Tigray)

Armed conflict in Tigray region in northern Ethiopia has led to a full-scale humanitarian crisis. Neighbouring Sudan is facing serious economic challenges and its ability to take care of refugees is weak. Continuing military action has increased concerns over civilian population including Eritrean refugees. Situation in Tigray is challenging and it affects also to the humanitarian access. Key targeted population for UNHCR are 100 000 Ethiopian refugees in eastern Sudan, 80 000 Eritrean refugees in Tigray and 650 000 IDPs in Tigray. Needs include emergency shelter and health services. Special attention is required for persons at heightened protection risk, including young children, women and the elderly, persons with specific needs and persons with disabilities.
