Humanitarian assistance; Funding for UNFPAs thematic fund

Description

Conflicts and humanitarian crises affect women, girls, boys and men differently. Women and girls face heightened risks and are among the most vulnerable. Finland highlights women’s rights, participation and needs in humanitarian assistance and policy. Finland pays particular attention to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and to the need to prevent gender-based violence (GBV) in humanitarian situations. Women and girls – especially SRHR and work against GBV – as well as young people are at the centre of UNFPA’s actions. In recent years, UNFPA has strengthened its humanitarian role. Finland’s support is allocated to UNFPA’s new thematic fund, which focuses on SRHR and GBV prevention and response. Finland’s support is earmarked to UNFPA’s Covid-19 response. Covid-19 pandemic has impacted especially women and girls.
