Donor Committee for Enterprise Development, DCED
Description
Donor Committee for Enterprise Development (DCED) is a forum that develops donors' methodologies in order to improve the results-based management and effectiveness of private sector development cooperation. DCED aims at advancing economic development in developing countries for poverty reduction by harmonizing donor cooperation in private sector development and improving its results-based management and effectiveness. In order to achieve the goal, the DCED concentrates on: (i) improving the results-based management and effectiveness of development cooperation with the help of guidance; (ii) identifying the best donor practices; (iii) drafting and disseminating summaries and other knowledge products and raising awareness . The main instrument of the DCED is the guidance to advance the development and implementation of a results-based approach with a theory of change and an indicator framework in private sector development (so-called Standard). The DCED is also active in international policy influencing work in order to promote private sector development in the development policy agenda. The DCED hosts six working groups in which the members can participate: Business Environment; Private Sector Engagement; Women’s Economic Empowerment; Results Measurement; Market System’s Development; and Green Growth. Finland supports the DCED with 200,000 euros during 2020-2024. Funding is channeled through an IFC Trust Fund.
